Ongole: The Prakasam District Legal Services Authority was selected as the best DLSA in Andhra Pradesh for the second year in a row, announced the district Judge and chairman of the authority, MG Priyadarsini.

The DLSA organised a special programme to create awareness on legal services as part of the National Legal Services Day celebration at the DLSA office here on Friday.

Priyadarsini said that they would like to celebrate the day by creating awareness on various acts and services by the DLSA, than just conducting a formal meeting.

She asked the DLSA officials and paralegal volunteers to spread awareness on the services by DLSA like welfare of old aged people, protection of rights of un organised sector workers, child rights protection, anti-human trafficking, awareness on protection and welfare of mentally unstable, awareness against drugs, awareness on tribal laws, welfare of acid attack victims etc and help the people receive justice.

The DLSA secretary and senior civil judge, T Raja Venkatadri said that the Prakasam DLSA was chosen as the best DLSA in the state for the second year in a row.

He announced that the paralegal volunteer BV Sagar was also chosen as best paralegal volunteer again. He said that they achieved the awards by working in a systematic manner with service as aim.

The first additional judge, RJ Viswanatham, seventh additional judge S Ramesh, senior judges B Sobhakumari, R Sarath Babu, additional SP Lavanya Lakshmi, excise superintendent Nageswara Rao, permanent Lok Adalat chairman P Adinarayana and other legal officials and paralegal volunteers participated in the programme.
