Visakhapatnam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths trapped a Village Revenue Officer (VRO) Vadapalli Venkata Satya Siva Ramakrishna of KJ Puram and in-charge of Vantarlapalem for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 9,000 from a farmer for doing an official favour at V Madugula under Visakhapatnam limits on Wednesday.
According to ACB DSP (Visakha) K Ramakrishna Prasad, the VRO has demanded bribe from a farmer Bheesetty Jagga Rao, a native of KJ Puram village for online entry of land documents and issuance of e-passbooks pertaining to 6.88 acres of land inherited from his ancestors at Vantarlapalem village.
Though the VRO had accepted Rs 1,000 bribe in the past from Rao, he has not initiated the process and informed Jagga Rao to clear the remaining amount of Rs 9,000. Due to financial crunch, the farmer failed to pay the rest of amount. Fed up with the attitude of VRO, the farmer approached the ACB and lodged a complaint.
Acting on farmer’s complaint, the ACB officials laid a trap and nabbed the VRO while accepting the bribe at his residence in V Madugula in Visakhapatnam.
