BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana on Friday took strong exception to the State government withdrawing general consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation CBI in the State
Guntur: BJP State president Kanna Lakshminarayana on Friday took strong exception to the State government withdrawing general consent to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the State.
He alleged that the government led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was involved in corruption and to shield the corrupt TDP MLAs and leaders, the government withdrew the general consent to the CBI.
Addressing a media conference in Guntur city on Friday, he said that it was a shame on the part of Chandrababu Naidu to withdraw the general consent to the CBI and refuse to provide cooperation to the I-T officials.
He said that the CBI will investigate into the attack on Jagan and facts will come out. Taking this into consideration, Naidu withdrew general consent to the CBI.
He said the Chief Minister is also worried over the Cash-for-Vote case and hence he had shifted from Hyderabad to Amaravati. Kanna said Water Resources Minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao lacks knowledge on irrigation projects.
Former Joint Director of CBI V V Lakshminarayana and former DGP Dinesh Reddy felt that withdrawing general consent to the CBI is not good and as a result corruption will increase. They shared their opinions while speaking to The Hans India on Friday.
Lakshminarayana said, “It is not good to withdraw general consent for Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the State. This will lead to increase in corruption. Earlier Karnataka government withdrew general consent to the CBI 16 years ago and later took back the decision.
Generally almost all the States will give consent to the CBI, it is common. It is difficult for CBI to take permission for every case. As a result investigation will take more time."
Former Director General of Police, V Dinesh Reddy said, "The TDP government in State is involved in the corruption. Irregularities took place in Pattiseema and Polavaram Project constructions works. CAG also found fault with the government.
The government is not in a position to discuss the CAG report in the State Assembly. What is the need to withdraw general permission for CBI. As a result, the corrupt will get protection. It is not good. The State police is also not cooperating with the I-T officials too."
It may be mentioned that Principal Secretary (Home) A R Anuradha issued orders (GO No.109) on November 8 under Section-6 of Delhi Police Establishment Act 1946, withdrawing the general consent to all the members under Delhi Special Police Establishment Act to exercise powers and jurisdiction under the said Act in the State of AP.
