Man with kind heart serves free food to destitutes at nights

Vizianagaram: Every day a team of service oriented people led by Khaleel Babu starts walking on the streets, pavements and way side with hot boxes filled up with food which include sambar , rice, curry and chutneys and feed the orphans, destitutes with love and care.

This practice has been going on for the past few years. The team members feel happy to find an orphan, helpless, age old persons who are not in a position to find their food and move here and there. They put a plate in front of the destitute and serve the tasty hot food.

The team members walk through the narrow passages, streets and wakes up the people who are sleeping way side or on pavement without food and give them night meal. They also carry piles of blankets and distribute them to the needy people shivering on pavements due to cold.

The team visits railway station, market area, RTC Complex , Fort junction and some other places where those shelter less people live. The night duty of Khaleel Babu starts every day at 7.30 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Every night he serves food to a minimum of 120 people .

Generally, people provide food at their homes in the name of Anna Daanam. The poor, orphans need to go there and take food. But Khaleel Babu of Baba Metta area, who is also running an old age home, is providing food to orphans in the unique way.

He says 'Serving bread and butter at my home is very common but we should search and serve the people who deserve real help. So, we are in that mode and walk till mid night with food baskets and hot packs.

When ever we find a homeless, food less person in the street, we are serving him a tasty food,’’ he says. Even he take care of the people who are mentally unwell and take them to his Ashram and cut their hair and provide new cloths and food. Khader, follower , member of this team says `'Its a great pleasure for us to serve the poor and orphans, we feel happy to serve the people.’’
