The compact KTMs are being made in India for the entire world.KTM India has quietly started retailing the updated Duke and RC 200/390 models in India. The model year update brings on board an array of improvements which are largely reactions to customer feedback.

The most updated of the lot is the KTM RC 390 which now benefits from slipper clutch (already introduced in Duke 390). The RC 390 is hailed as a sharp handler and the introduction of slipper clutch is sure to strengthen its reputation among enthusiasts. The India-spec 2016 RC 390 however continues to retain the underbelly exhaust unlike the European counterpart’s bulky exhaust canister unit since the older arrangement is good enough to satisfy Indian emission standards.

All MY2016 KTMs in India come with standard always-on headlamps (headlamp on-off switch has been eliminated), NOK seal and plastic flaps on front fork for added protection, revised cushion, improved paint quality, new ECU mounts, improved alloy wheels, vapor recovery system for fuel tank, adjustable handlebar levers, redesigned pillion seat assembly, improved radiator fans for better cooling, increased disc brake thickness, etc.

The Duke 200 and RC 200 receive new MRF tyres while both RC models benefit from improved rear view mirrors. The 200 cc models also get larger 300 mm front disc. The engines and gearboxes have been retained without much changes.

The 2016 KTM RC 390 is priced at INR 2.09 lakhs, the RC 200 retails for INR 1.65 lakhs, Duke 390 is priced at INR 1.91 lakhs, and Duke 200 carries a price tag of INR 1.40 lakhs (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai).
