Maruti Suzuki India Limited, leading automakers of the country have announced to increase production of the Baleno premium hatchback. Citing increased demand which has resulted in waiting periods of between 6-8 months, the company will boost production.

In addition to this, the company will also start manufacturing of Baleno from the Suzuki Motors plant in Gujarat. This plant is set to start production from the January to March quarter.

Each of the recently introduced models like Ciaz, Baleno, S-Cross and Vitara Brezza have seen outstanding demand. At the same time, their success has been bogged down by extended waiting periods.

As on date, Maruti Suzuki has over 45,000 bookings for Baleno and Brezza. Increased production to around 12,000 units per month will not only bring down waiting period but will also allow the company to cater to increased export demands. In keeping with Maruti Suzuki’s decision to increase supply, around 250 vendors and company suppliers will also need to step up investments, capacities and production.

Besides stepping up production, Maruti Suzuki is also planning increase in number of NEXA outlets which will go up from 127 outlets in April this year to 250 by the end of the current financial year.

Suzuki Motor Corp is also initiating a pilot project at the company plant in Gujarat by the end of this financial year wherein supplies of vehicles and components will be exclusive to Maruti Suzuki. The company is currently working on its product portfolio for such a project while manufacturing and engineering teams are also being streamlined.

With the auto sector set to grow at 6-8% in the current financial year, Maruti Suzuki is sure of posting a double digit growth, which will not only allow the company to retain its No 1 position but will also help them increase market share to a new high.
