Hyderabad: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s Visakh Refinery processed 9.2 million tonnes of crude oil during 2015-16, which was nearly 111 per cent of its installed capacity of 8.3 million metric tonne per annum (MMTPA).

“Visakh Refinery has evolved as a world-class refinery with state-of-the-art facilities, supplying high quality products and catering to the energy demand of the region.

The company constantly strives to be a role model of excellence in meeting social commitment, environment, health & safety norms,” HPCL said in a statement.

According to the petroleum major, the refinery also achieved highest production of MS (motor spirit or petrol), HSD (high speed diesel), ATF (aviation turbine fuel), and Bitumen in the last fiscal.

“Consistent supply of Euro-III/IV grade of MS (petrol) and Euro-III/IV grade diesel to the supply region has been achieved by continuous operation of MS Block units and DHDS (Diesel Hydrodesulphurization)/ DHT (Diesel Hydro-treater) units.

These cleaner and greener fuels will continue to improve the ambient air quality in line with international standards,” it explained.

The company ensures the quality compliance of the products supplied from the refinery through a world-class Quality Control Laboratory established in the refinery premises. This modern laboratory is an NABL-accredited installation.

“The refinery operates and maintains a crude cavern storage facility installed by Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL).

It successfully commissioned Cavern B in May 2015 and Cavern A in June 2015,” the company said. HPCL has initiated several measures at the refinery to improve safety.
