Rakul Preet charging 75 lakh per film

Actress Rakul Preet Singh is the toast of the town and how! Having made her debut with Tollywood debut with ‘Venkatadri Express’ 18 months ago, the Punjabi-born later went on to feature in ‘Rough’, ‘Loukyam’ and ‘Current Theega’. And now, like her counterparts, she too hiked her remuneration especially after ‘Loukyam’ set the cash registers jingling.

The actress who started off with Rs 15 lakh for her stint in ‘Venkatadri Express’ is fast emerging as one of the highest paid T-town actresses. She has anticipated projects like ‘Pandaga Chesko’ and ‘Kick 2’ queued up for a release while she will start shooting for Ram Charan’s yet-untitled flick and NTR’s flick with Sukumar shortly.

A source says, “Rakul had drawn Rs 35 lakh for ‘Current Theega’ whereas for Ram Charan’s flick and NTR’s flick, she is taking away a cool Rs 75 lakh. It is the highest amount for an actress who is just into her second year in the industry and isn’t a renowned face across Bollywood either. If she moves ahead in the same speed, she is likely to demand close to Rs 1 crore next year.

Moreover, producers too are interested to meet her demands as she is someone who will take time out for extensive promotions and is very accessible.”The source adds, “It wouldn’t be a surprise if Rakul gives the likes of Kajal, Samantha and Shruti Haasan the trio who charge nearly a crore for film – a run for their money in a year.”The actress who also has Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Shimla Mirchi’ in queue is likely to sign another Bollywood project in the days to come, we hear.
