I Want To Be A Good Looking Mother And Sexy: Isha Koppikar. I’ve never really pushed myself. I want to enjoy motherhood. I don’t know why people make a huge cry about women wanting them to lose weight quickly after delivery.
You look gorgeous in the first look poster of Looty…
Well that’s the way I look. I guess it’s natural!
How has motherhood been? How did you manage to get back in shape?
I’ve never really pushed myself. I want to enjoy motherhood. I don’t know why people make a huge cry about women wanting them to lose weight quickly after delivery. It has to be done gradually. I need to lose weight a little bit and I’m in the process of doing that. There’s a target weight which I need to lose. I’m not getting deterred or getting affected. I want to be a good looking mother and as sexy as ever.
You have worked in several Hindi films as well as south Indian languages. Do you find any difference in their working styles?
Yes, South Indian films follow a different work pattern as compared to Bollywood. Since the last couple of years, Bollywood has been heavily inspired by south projects. Earlier, Bollywood films used to linger for a year in terms of its making but now the process is getting streamlined. South industry has some really good technicians. There’s no language barrier as such. I’m very quick at learning languages.
Given a choice, you prefer Bollywood or south Indian cinema and why?
I prefer good cinema. I’m comfortable with any cinema that gives me scope to showcase my talent and my acting caliber.
What made you accept Looty after working in so any Hindi movies?
It’s the same team I worked with when I started doing south films. The director of Looty was an assistant to directors I’ve worked with in the past. Similarly, other technicians who I had worked with in the past came together for Looty. So I didn’t feel like I was working with a new team. We all share a good rapport.
Have you got any offers from Telugu film-makers?
Yes, there are lot of offers from Telugu, Tamil and Kannada filmmakers. But I’m not in the rush and don’t want to take any offers just for the sake of it.
Do you watch south Indian movies? Who are your favourite actors?
I used to watch when I was quite active doing south movies more than a decade ago. I’m not much into watching south projects now. My favourite actors from south are Kamal Haasan and Ajit.
How do you intend to juggle work and domestic life?
I take my daughter with me whenever I step out.
What next after Looty?
There are offers – two Kannada, one Tamil and one Telugu film. I’ve not decided yet.
Among the current breed of actresses, who do you think is most promising?
I don’t watch south films regularly, so I won’t be able to take names.
