We will meet often now: Kamal to Telugu audience

Even though it is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, actor Kamal Haasan will finally treat his fans to a film which isn’t dubbed from Tamil. Rather, it is specially being reshot for audiences here. ‘Cheekati Rajyam’, which co-stars Trisha and Prakash Raj, is touted as a suspense thriller.

The first look of the film, which goes on floors in Hyderabad on Monday, was unveiled on Sunday to lusty cheers from the entire team of the film. “When I was here to promote ‘Uttama Villain’ last month, everyone wanted to know when I will be directing a Telugu film next. Nobody believed me when I said it would happen soon! And here I am honouring my promise,” said Kamal Haasan.

To underscore his point and his determination, the actor said, “I will be interacting with the media more often on this project. Raaj Kamal Films (the actor’s home production) has lined up several projects that I am very keen to work on.” Actress Trisha who was last seen in Balakrishna-starrer ‘Lion’ said, “For me it’s a very new character.

I haven’t done something like this before. “It’s every actor’s dream to work with Kamal Haasan and to relive that dream for the second time (they worked earlier in Manmadha Banam) makes me feel blessed.” Cheekati Rajyam is directed by Rajesh M Selva, a long-time associate of the actor while Ghibran will render the tunes.
