Ashok said that ‘Chitrangada’ is the first film from South India to have been filmed across nine states of the US. He visited Ongole, his native place recently to celebrate his birthday with family and local friends. He said, “Chitrangada is Arjuna’s wife in Mahabharat.

She is the first tomboyish character we witness in our texts. Anjali’s role in the film is on the similar lines. She goes to USA to connect dots of a story and how her journey unfolds is told in a gripping narrative.

“We shot at peculiar temperatures like -14F. Nearly 80 per cent of the film was shot in Pennsylvania, Boston, Washington DC, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Southampton among other US regions.”

Describing Ongole, where he worked as a choreographer and a journalist earlier, as his Godfather, Ashok also revealed that ‘Chitrangada’ would open in the first week of March. The film’s post-production is currently going on in the US.
