Shaikk Mastan, an eminent psephologist, has turned producer with Srikanth-starrer ‘Terror’, which opens in cinemas this Friday. The producer says he wanted to make a film on Narendra Modi to begin with but fate had other plans. “I worked with Narendra Modi in 2012.
I was inspired by his leadership qualities and the development programmes he undertook and so, wanted to make a film on him. When I approached ‘Kalavaramaye Madilo’ director Satish Kasetty with the script on Modi, he kept it aside and made me to produce ‘Terror’,” he recalls fondly, adding, “Nonetheless, I will make a multi-lingual film on Modi for sure.”
Satish’s idea of ‘Terror’, he says, was real and hatke. “It deals about how terrorists plan and execute their operations and the subsequent investigations by the cops. Srikanth plays a cop. “Also, it deals with how politicians, for their political benefits, help terrorists to nab their targets.”
While noted character artiste Kota Sreenivas Rao is playing a home minister in the film, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy will be seen as a Chief Minister. “Uttam garu shot for three days. We wanted K Chandrashekar Rao to play the CM but by the time our film went to sets, he was crowned as the real CM of Telangana,” he guffaws.
Releasing after failing to meet multiple deadlines in the past, he asserts that he didn’t face any problems while obtaining theatres for his film, shot predominantly in Hyderabad in 57 days. “Nalanti political background unnavallaki theatres dorakavanukuntunnara? (Do you think a person like me who has a political connections will not get screens)” he asks, a smile sipping over.
Admittedly Shaikk is bowled over by Srikanth’s attitude. “More than a very good actor, he’s a good human being. He was always on time for shooting and is a man of his word,” he signs off.
