Hiranyakashipa still in early stages: Gunasekhar
The buzz further had it that the director has already roped in a noted Tamil actor to play Hiranyakashipa.
Filmmaker Gunasekhar, who has pushed his ambitious ‘Pratapa Rudra’ to 2018, has recently registered a title ‘Hiranyakashipa The Story of ‘Bhakta Prahlad’ with the Telugu Film Chamber, triggering speculations that his next would centre on Hiranya Kasapa- Bhakta Prahalada legend and that it would be told from the perspective of Hiranyakashipa, the demon king. The buzz further had it that the director has already roped in a noted Tamil actor to play Hiranyakashipa.
When Talkies contacted the reticent filmmaker, he was wary of revealing anything. “I’m yet to announce the project officially,” he said in a low voice, indicating clearly that he is pondering over Hiranyakashipa idea to make as his next. When prodded whether it would be his immediate next, he noted, “It’s still in early stages of discussions.”
However, a source confirmed to us that the director was inspired by the way Hollywood told classic tale ‘Jungle Book’ in a new way and that he wants to achieve something similar with ‘Hiranyakashipa– The Story of ‘Bhakta Prahlad’. “He has been toying with this idea for the past few months but is maintaining utmost secrecy. He wants to convene a presser and announce the project grandly,” the source added.
