11-month infant raped by neighbourAn 11-month-old infant was raped on Thursday at LB Nagar. According to the police, the victim was raped by her neighbour’s son Nagaraju, who is an employee at a supermarket. A case was registered by the Andhra Pradesh Balala Hakkula Sangam (APBHS) officials. The baby is currently undergoing treatment at Niloufer Hospital.

Parents of the infant, Sambayya and Sunitha, work at the Global Hospitals, Saroornagar. The father is an electrician while the mother is a nurse. Every day, Sunitha would leave the child under the care of her neighbour, Kusuma, a 50-year-old woman. On Thursday, when Sunitha came home from work, she found that the baby was crying and bleeding.

Kusuma informed the mother that the baby got hurt, while she was giving her a bath. The mother grew suspicious and took the baby to Global Hospitals for a medical examination. The girl was later shifted to the Niloufer Hospital.

After the medical examination at Niloufer, the doctor confirmed that the child was sexually assaulted and that the condition of the child was stable. A police case has also been booked at the LB Nagar Police Station and the culprit Nagaraju, aged around 30, has been put behind bars.

Achyutha Rao, president, APBHS, said, “We are demanding maximum sentence for the accused. What he has done is not acceptable at all. We have written to Sunitha Laxma Reddy, minister for woman and child welfare, asking for a fast-track court to try the case.
