Hyderabad: After a short hiatus for just a few days, on Wednesday the customs officials have seized 1.5kg gold at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport of Shamshabad in Hyderabad. According to sources, the gold was seized from a couple who arrived at Hyderabad from Dubai. The duo has also been held for interrogation. More details are awaited.
In the recent past, Shamshabad airport has become the gateway for smuggling goods and precious items, mostly the Gold. Many such incidents have come into the light in the last few months. Despite the fact that the officials of airport are vigilant, many such smuggling incidents have been taking place, giving a way for many misgivings. Though it appeared that the venue has been shifted to Tamil Nadu based airports with the recent incidents, the Wednesday incident has given the indication that RGIA turns to be the most befitting gateway for the smugglers of gold.
