Hyderabad: An elderly couple was murdered by armed burglars in their house in Hydershahkote under Narsingi police station limits on Thursday evening and decamped with gold ornaments. After ransacking the house of Simachalam, 68, a retired employee of Chanchalguda Printing Press, the burglars murdered him by stabbing him in the stomach and neck regions besides killing Sulochana, 62, his wife, by slitting her throat.
The incident occurred around 5.30 pm when the couple was at home. The goons barged into the house and assaulted them. Police said the primary motive seemed to be robbery, but due to resistance and confrontation by the couple the assailants might have stabbed them.
The dog squad, which has been pressed into service to collect the evidence from the scene, took the team about a furlong and stopped. Cops are investigating the case from all angles.
