Hyderabad: A businessman, who complained at Rajendranagar police station of being attacked by two rounds of bullets on November 11 by miscreants, has confessed to making up the story, the police said on Friday based on forensic reports.

During the course of investigation, a letter was addressed to the Director, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for inspection of the Innova car (TS 13 EA 8116) in which he was travelling. The officials examined the car and opined that no firearm projectile holes or hit marks were observed.

The 32-year-old businessman, Md Shahabuddin, a resident of P&T Colony, Bandlagunda reported on November 10 that two motorcycle-borne men fired two rounds of bullets at his car's windscreen at Upparpally, when he was returning home after collecting cash from his hotel in Rajendranagar. He reported police that sensing danger he accelerated his car, but the miscreants chased him and fired at his car. A case was registered under Section 307 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act.

“Forensic reports ruled out attack and on observation of the above acts of the complainant,” ACP (Rajendranagar) A Mutyam Reddy said. Shahabuddin, who earlier resided near Mehdipatnam, attempted twice to get licence for a gun, which was denied by the police.
