Guwahati: At least five people killed in Assam in fresh violence reported on Wednesday.

Death toll rose to 67 in Assam violence as 62 people killed by NDFB (S) militants in Kokrajhar and Sonitpur district.

At least three people killed and several injured including five journalists in Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district in police firing incident to protesters.

More than two thousand people came out at Dhekiajuli and protest against the innocent people killings.

The protesters gheraod the Dhekiajuli police station and demanded security to villagers.

The situation turned violent when police resorted lathi charge and firing to protesters.

At least three people were killed and several others injured in police firing incident.

On other hand suspected miscreants killed at least two Bodo community people in Chiang district on Wednesday morning.

During the attack, three others were injured and they rushed to hospital.

In separate incident protesters set ablaze at least 90 houses at Udalguri weekly market.

At least 19 protesters injured in police firing incident at Udalguri.

District administration had imposed curfew in Kokrajhar, Sonitpur, Chiang, Baska and Udalguri district.

Assam CM Tarun Gogoi has called a high level security meeting in Guwahati.
