Hyderabad: The passenger from Kuala Lumpur, who was caught by the custom officials for smuggling 350 grams of gold in his stomach in the form of tablets on December 24, was successfully operated upon by doctors of Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Friday. The accused, Abdul Haleem, native of Bellary, Karnataka arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on a Malaysian flight from Kuala Lumpur on the night of December 24. The custom officials, who frisked him, took into custody after finding that he had consumed gold tablets before boarding flight with the intention of smuggling. They shifted him to OGH for conducting operation and retrieved the gold tablets from his stomach.
