Woman set on fire by hubby succumbs to injuries

Hyderabad: An argument between a man and his wife ended in a tragedy. The man, a construction labour, after a heated argument with his wife set her on fire. The victim, who suffered severe burns, died on Sunday morning. The incident took place on December 22 evening after G Lakshmi, 30, a resident of Champapet, had an argument with her husband G Balaram, 37, over school fees of her son. Balaram, who was in an inebriated state, assaulted his wife. Later, he doused her with kerosene and set her on fire, police said. On hearing Lakshmi's cries, neighbours rushed her to Gandhi Hospital. She suffered over 80 per cent burns died while undergoing treatment. Saroornagar police registered a case against Balaram under Section 302 (Murder) of the IPC. Further investigation is underway.
