Hyderabad: An 11-year-old boy died under suspicious circumstances in the Government Children's Home for Boys in Saidabad on Wednesday. According to police, Asif, native of Banaras (UP), was a runaway child. He was handed over to this shelter by an NGO, who found him in Bandlaguda in 2013.

However, he died under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday morning. Signs of strangulation with rope appeared on his neck. “We came to know about his death in the morning. The case will progress after completion of his post-mortem,” said Saidabad Inspector, Srinivas.

During the weekly meetings of Child Welfare Committee, Asif expressed his abhorrence to going back to his home, as there was none to take care of him. After his mother’s death, his father married another woman, he reportedly said.
