NTV to go off air for obscene content

NTV, popular Telugu news channel has been banned for seven days beginning February 3. According to reports, the Information and Broadcasting Minister took this decision after it received complaints against the channel for airing obscene content in the night.

The complaint states that NTR had telecast a movie-based programme at night for four months in 2012. The show would feature vulgar film clips which drew the flak of family audience.

Now, the channel has sought High Court's intervention to cancel the I&B minister's orders. Rachana Television director T Ramadevi has asked the court to consider her request saying an explanation had already been given in the matter.
