Tadipatri (Anantapur): The police on Wednesday arrested two chain-snatchers who committed 15 offences in the town and on the outskirts and recovered 16 gold chains weighing 42.5 tolas worth Rs 12 lakh, besides a two-wheeler.

Tadipatri DSP Nagaraju told the media here that P Ramanjaneyulu (32) of Choudeswari Colony in Yadika mandal and Dhananjaya (32) of Chinna Vepamanu Street, were taken into custody for questioning while moving suspiciously near the Diwakar Municipal Auditorium on Tuesday evening. On interrogation, the duo confessed to their involvement in chain-snatching cases.

The DSP said the two chain-snatchers, who had been committing minor offences since 2010, were produced in a local court and sent to judicial remand.Circle Inspector Afsar Basha and SI K Srinivasulu, besides their staff, were present at the press meet.
