Hyderabad: The Chaitanyapuri police on Friday arrested a chairman of a temple for allegedly misbehaving with a woman. Police said Gunti Rajesh alias Raju, 36, chairman of Sree Prasannanjaneya Temple who also runs a real estate business, was accused of misbehaving with the victim.

He took the woman near his house and molested her, inspector M Ravinder Reddy said, quoting a complaint filed by the victim's parents. “Though the incident took place a week ago, but came to light only on Friday,” Reddy said. The woman and the accused apparently knew each other as they both reside in the same area of LB Nagar.

She managed to free herself from the clutches of the accused and reached her home and narrated the incident to her parents. Subsequently, her parents registered a police complaint based on which Rajesh was arrested on Friday, the police officer said. The accused has been booked under Sections 354 (Assault or use of criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman) and 363 (Kidnapping) of the IPC and also under Nirbhaya Act.
