Step mother, father harass girl for property in LB Nagar

A 19-year-old girl was rescued on Wednesday by the LB Nagar police and officials of the State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights from her father and stepmother who were torturing the girl for property.

The girl who was brutally tortured had several injuries in the form of cuts and burns all over her body caused by blunt instruments. The victim, Prathyusha’s face was mutilated and her eyes were swollen stated the rescue officials who also informed that her stepmother had allegedly poured acid on her cheeks and made her drink cleaning agents.

Her father also had burnt the girl with cigarettes and slapped her on several occasions. The rescue officials were alerted by the neighbours while they informed that the couple intended to kill the girl slowly to grab her property worth lakhs. The torture went on for almost seven months before being rescued from the LB Nagar house. The girl’s stepmother, Shyamala alias Chamundeshwari was arrested by the police while her father, Ramesh, a junior telecom officer in BSNL has absconded.

Prathyusha informed that she was put in an orphanage when her mother passed away but was brought home five years ago although they did not allow me to study. She said that her stepmother used to choke and pour cleaning agents into her mouth forcefully.

The doctors who treated Prathyusha found old and fresh injuries on her body. A case has been registered against the couple for attempt to murder and wrongful confinement. LB Nagar inspector E. Srinivas Reddy said that a case IPC Sections 307, 342, and 326, has been booked against the accused.
