Following the attacks in Paris last November that killed 130 – planned and carried out in part by individuals with connections to Belgium, including Salah Abdeslam – Europe and the larger international community united with a focused determination to defeat ISIS and counter the threat of terrorism and extremism.

In the wake of another deadly coordinated attack today in Belgium, it is clear that more must be done. We must remain vigilant in the face of terrorism to ensure that violent extremism is eliminated from communities worldwide. CEP and our colleagues in Brussels stand with Belgium and all the victims of today’s tragedy.

We call on the entire international community to redouble its efforts to eliminate terrorism wherever it takes root,” Counter Extremism Project CEO Ambassador Mark D. Wallace and President Frances F. Townsend said.
