Hyderabad: The Bollarum police on Monday arrested the habitual offender C Anil (30) who had abducted a minor girl from a toddy shop and killed her after sexually assaulting on Saturday night. The girl had gone to the toddy shop along with her parents.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, North Zone DCP B Sumathi said that Anil, who was convicted four times earlier in various cases, including a case of attempt to murder and sexual assault, was a habitual offender since 2005.

“He was released from jail on July 1 and came to Hyderabad. The very next day, with an intention to rape the girl, he lured the girl on the pretext of buying meat and took her with him. Anil took the girl along with him for one-and-a-half kilometre on foot until he found a desolate place and raped her by tying her hands and legs with her clothes. As the girl was screaming in pain, he smashed her head with boulders,” DCP Sumathi said.

The DCP said that the girl’s parents were in an inebriated state at the toddy shop when the accused took their daughter out. They thought that Anil would buy the girl something, she said. “In three earlier cases at Narsapur, Alwal and recently in Bollarum, he followed the same modus operandi.

We have collected all the physical and circumstantial evidences. We will ensure that the accused gets capital punishment at the earliest,” the DCP said. Tension prevailed at North Zone DCP office in Secunderabad on Monday as the parents of the deceased girl and women activists from several NGOs held protests demanding “execution” of Anil, who indulged in the heinous act.

While Anil was being taken to the court, several activists attempted to attack him. The police personnel took him back to the DCP’s office and tried to pacify the agitated activists. After a discussion of about half an hour, a group of 10 persons, including the deceased girl’s parents were allowed to give a representation to the DCP.
