Nirmal: A three-member gang involved in preparation of fake pattedar passbooks for securing bank loans was busted on Monday following the arrest of Rathod Srinivas, Sajid and Rathod Vilas.

The trio allegedly sold the passbooks in Utnoor, Khanapur, Mamada, Neradigonda areas for Rs 10,000 to Rs.15,000 each.

Addressing the media, Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier said a computer, a printer and several fake rubber stamps were seized from the gang.

The SP said the gang’s activities had come to light after a resident of Ankena village sold it to a person in SBH Khanapur branch. The bank officials had referred for verification and a complaint was lodged with the Pembi police.

He said that “the gang had prepared fake stamps of Collectors Ahmed Babu and Nadeem, DFO Vinod Kumar, PA to ITDA project officer Mutyala Raju and resorted to forging of their signatures.

In case of any doubts regarding pattedar passbooks, complaints can be lodged with the nearest police station”.
