Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police on Friday registered a case against Satyanarayana Singh, owner of the building that collapsed at Nanakramguda and Sumadhura Constructions.
A seven-storey building under construction in Nanakramguda collapsed late on Thursday evening in which rescue teams retrieved four bodies so far and saved two lives.
Rescue operations were still going on at 8 pm on Friday even as several other labourers were understood to have been trapped under the debris.
The case was registered under Sections 304 (II) and Section 304(A) of IPC based on a complaint lodged by a neighbour T Beerender Singh.
While Section 304 (II) is registered when there is prior knowledge that death may be caused by the act of a person, 304 (A) is registered only when death is caused by negligence.
Special teams had been formed to nab Satyanarayana, who was absconding ever since the collapse, a senior police official said.
Another official said a person close to the main accused had been taken into custody for questioning. Quoting the complaint, a police official said Satyanaryana took up the construction without proper permissions from the GHMC.
Also, the standards of construction and the material used for it were of poor quality. The complainant also informed the police that a construction company named Sumadhura Constructions had taken up digging as part of construction in a contiguous plot where basic norms were flouted by the company due to which Satyanarayana’s building was further weakened leading to the collapse.
Meanwhile, sources said the police had already come to a conclusion that greed for money and corruption led to the collapse of the multi-storey building.
The police sources further said the investigators were also looking into the aspect of whether Sumadhura Constructions had used explosives in the digging of cellar and whether the company had permission for taking up the work and use explosives in the residential locality.
