Woman kills husband, tries to pass it off as suicide
Vexed with the alleged harassment, a teenaged housewife killed her husband with the help of her mother in Akkayyapalem in the city. Though the incident took place on June 2, it came to light on Thursday. Both were arrested and sent in remand. The accused was identified as Sariki Sridevi (19).

IV Town circle inspector B Tirumala Rao told the media that S Appalaraju, a welder by profession, alleged to have harassed his wife Sridevi and her mother Ramulamma, without giving money for household maintenance.
Appalaraju also used to torture the duo suspecting his wife’s fidelity. In the early hours of June 2, after a quarrel with his wife, Appalaraju went to his bedroom, locked his door and attempted suicide by hanging himself to the ceiling fan using a sari.
The wife and her mother rushed to his rescue and found he was still breathing. However, keeping in view his harassment, the two took the advantage of the situation and planned to kill him. The woman and her mother tightened the sari around his neck until he stopped breathing.
Police, however, grew suspicious as wife Sridevi and her mother gave conflicting statements on the death of Appalaraju. Sridevi in her complaint said Appalaraju died after consuming sleeping pills. But police found injury marks on his neck and immediately arrested the women.
