Hyderabad: Pulling the curtains down on the wrangling between the two states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, over the issue of holding joint counselling for EAMCET, both the states have agreed to hold joint counselling from August 17.
At a joint press conference conducted by Andhra Pradesh Technical Education Commissioner and EAMCET Convenor Ajay Jain and Telangana Technical Education Commissioner and EAMCET co- convenor Shailaja Ramaiyer, the officials said that in the background of the Supreme Court ruling, common engineering counselling would commence on Friday with web option entry from August 17 to 25 in both the states. The process of allotment of seats would take place on August 30 and classes would begin from September 1 as per the directions of the Supreme Court.
Shailaja said that certificate verification process for Telangana would be held between August 14 and August 23. A notification was released for the same on Wednesday. She specified that all 23 helpline centres in Telangana were ready for verification process.
The officials stated that option entry process would be common for candidates in both the states. “On August 17 and 18, students who secured ranks between one and 50,000 can exercise their options. On August 20 and 21, students with ranks from 50,000 to one lakh can register their options. On August 22 and 23 from one lakh rank to 1.5 lakh ranks can enter options, while on 24 and 25, from 1.5 lakh rank to last rank i.e. 2,03,000 can register the options. Candidates have opportunity to modify the options on August 26 and 27 only. The officials stated that seats would be allotted on August 30. The EAMCET co-convenor said of 23 helpline centres in Telangana, six centres were in Hyderabad. Students can walk into any centre for verification process.
Web options could be registered from helpline centres or internet centre or from anywhere. The officials informed that Andhra Pradesh government had given permission for 330 engineering colleges, while in Telangana the government had approved 315 colleges where admissions would take place. On the affiliation of engineering colleges, EAMCET co-convenor said that a few colleges had already got affiliation in Telangana. “We are in talks with concerned universities in both the states. In a couple of days, a list of all affiliated colleges would be available,” officials informed. The higher education council would meet again to finalise the ECET and Polycet counselling dates soon.
