Visakhapatnam: The late YS Rajasekhara Reddy as Chief Minister was a role model not only for Andhra Pradesh but also for the entire country and people should elect a leader who followed him, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jaganmohan Reddy said at Yelamanchili, about 60 km from here, on Wednesday.
Participating in electioneering for the municipal polls, he said YSR strove for the welfare of the people and provided even free power. On the contrary, the Telugu Desam Party regime under N Chandrababu Naidu was a nightmarish experience. “People suffered due to callousness of TDP,” he said.
Promising several welfare measures, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy said that if voted to power, the YSRCP would build 50 lakh houses in five years at the rate of 10 lakh houses every year. “There should be no one raising hands for housing,” he said.
He said every village would have an office to issue ration cards then and there for people to reap the benefits of government welfare schemes and all DWCRA loans would be waived for women.
