The official told the TRS delegation that they received a letter from the High Court and the same would be forwarded to the Union government. Later talking to reporters, Keshava Rao said Telangana would be without a duly elected government for over a fortnight, which was not right. A popular government should be given chance soon after the results were declared on May 16. Else there would be scope for a constitutional vacuum, he felt. He also said that the Appointed Day should not be linked with distribution of government employees.

A High Court bench comprising Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice N Satyanarayana Murthy had heard the petition filed by TRS leader Jagadeeshwar Reddy. The bench felt that the issue needed consideration by the Government of India as a constitutional vacuum had been created. The bench directed the Union of India to take a decision on the representation to be given by the petitioner expeditiously.
