narayanaMangalagiri: CPI State secretary Narayana on Thursday blamed the government for power crisis in the State. Narayana who was here to participate in the workshop for party activists at Peda Vadlapudi village of Mangalagiri mandal on Thursday said that the State government , instead of supplying gas and coal to the Genco, the power generating company under government control, was trying to help private companies to get these supplies. These companies, in turn sell power to the government at exhorbitant rates, he said. Thousands of industrial units in the State were facing closure threat due to power shortage, he said. While experts in the energy sector were favouring focus on solar energy, which is cleaner and pollution-free, the government seemed to have failed to appreciate the suggestion. The State government's allocation of mere Rs 300 crore to solar energy reflected this, he observed. The Congress leaders are busy saving their chairs by making trips to New Delhi, instead of concentrating on the real problems of the State, he said. He also criticised the UPA government for indulging in blackmailing tactics, using the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for its survival at the Centre. The Manmohan Singh Government's dependence on CBI for survival has weakened the political system in the country, he said.He also blamed the Centre for the present uncertainty in the State. Extending support to the 'Sadak Bandh' being organised by the Telangana protagonists, he demanded the government to release all the activists taken into custody by police in this regard.
