'The Architect of Constitution is neglected by CM'A

Mangalagiri (Guntur): Dalit ideologue and Dalit Mahasabha founder Prof Katti Padma Rao has declared the dawn of Ambedkar era as the Architect of Indian Constitution is respected all over the globe for his philosophy on equality of human beings.

He was chief guest at the birth anniversary celebrations of Ambedkar on the campus of Acharya Nagarjuna University here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he lambasted the State government for ignoring the Bharat Ratna when the legend was respected everywhere with the installation of his statues. The government led by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was deliberately neglecting the statue erection on the premises of the Assembly.

The Kiran government would be wiped out in the Ambedkar wave if it failed to change its stance on the statue issue. The onus of setting up statue was with the Congress. Any further delay in this issue would be treated as an insult to the great leader of our times at the hands of the national party. This stigma would prove costly for the Congress, he warned.

Declaring that this era belongs to Ambedkar, the Dalit leader said that his birth anniversary was being celebrated all over the country by garlanding his statue. Ambedkar was respected at national level as leaders assemble to pay their tributes at parliament.A Even in London, a statue of Ambedkar was installed at Indian House. It was unfortunate that such a great leader was ignored in the State, he lamented.

Kanna boasts ofA SC/ST Sub-Plan Guntur: Minister for Agriculture Kanna Lakshminarayana on Sunday boasted the newly-introduced SC/ST Sub-Plan while participating in Ambedkar birth anniversary celebrations here. A He accompanied Guntur District Collector S Suresh Kumar and district Congress leaders in paying respects to Ambedkar by garlanding statue.

Later, chatting with reporters, Kanna said that the State government had coined the Sub-Plan to ensure welfare of the SCs and STs. A The plan guarantees spending of all funds allocated for their welfare. The effort of the Andhra Pradesh government was a modal to emulate for other States, he said.

Stating that Ambedkar had strived for the uplift of Dalits and tribals, Kanna said the State government was working towards realising his dreams. Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had put in serious initiative to make true the vision of Ambedkar for a modern India. The State government was serious on carrying out the agenda set by Indira Gandhi to fulfil the dreams of Ambedkar, he said.

'Following ideals is real tribute' Eluru: West Godavari District Collector Dr G Vani Mohan on Sunday said that following the ideals of Ambedkar was a real tribute to the crusader of Dalits and the downtrodden. She inaugurated the birth anniversary celebrations at Ambedkar Bhavan here by lighting lamp. A Speaking on the occasion, she recalled the services of Ambedkar for the poor and socially neglected sections of society.

He toiled to remove inequalities among different sections of society by according constitutional validity to reservations, she said.

The Collector said that the SC/ST Sub-Plan would give room for spending of lapsed funds in a particular financial year in the subsequent years. She elaborated various initiatives taken by the district administration for the welfare of the Dalits and tribals.

District Superintendent of Police M Ramesh said Ambedkar had waged a struggle towards realising a society free from social disparities. A Dalit leader Netala Ramesh, Relli Kula Samkshema Sangham president Prasad, SC/ST Hakkula Parirakshana Samiti president Santosh Kumar and others were present.

Dr Vani Mohan released pamphlets on Ambedkar's life history and child labour eradication formulated by different organisations. She announced self-employment units worth Rs 13.17 lakh under different schemes of the SC Corporation. She distributed autos to some unemployed youth on the occasion.

All parties celebrate Gudivada (Krishna): All political parties celebrated Ambedkar birth anniversary at their respective offices in the town on Sunday. MLA Kodali Nani termed Ambedkar as the founder of new society in India. A His contribution for social equality among all sections had shown new direction to the country, he said.

BJP Krishna district president Ramineni Venkata Krishna garlanded Ambedkar statue at Kotibomma Centre here. A Bahujana Samaj Party celebrated the anniversary at Nehru Chowk. Telugu Desam Party, YSR Congress Party and other organisations also joined the celebrations.
