Centre grants textile cluster for Guntur

Guntur: Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Textiles Panabaka Lakshmi has said that of the two textile clusters granted by the Central government, one would be set up in Guntur, while the second would be established in Jharkhand. Speaking on the power crisis in the State here on Sunday, she said, "I am striving to resolve the electricity problem and spoke to the Union Minister concerned in this regard. While design centres would be set up on the textile cluster premises in order to encourage the weavers. Houses and work sheds would be constructed for weavers under Indiramma Kalalu scheme." Earlier, the Union Minister offered special pujas at Sri Panakala Swamy temple at Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Sunday.A The temple executive officer accorded the Union Minister a traditional welcome upon her arrival at the temple.
