Kondamodu (Guntur): The Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu has called the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the YSR Congress as the footwear of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. He alleged that the two parties were helping Sonia Gandhi to play with the lives of the Telugu people. Naidu addressed a wayside meeting here on Monday -- the second day of his ‘Telugu Prajala Atma Gowrava Yatra’ (Telugu people’s self-respect tour). He was two hours behind schedule.
Upon arrival, he was closeted with party senior leaders in his vehicle. Politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, senior leaders Karanam Balaramakrishna Murthy, Prathipati Pullarao, Dhulipala Narendra, Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao and Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao conferred with Naidu for 45 minutes. According to sources, they had elaborate discussions on the yatra route and the statements to be made at public meetings.
When the convoy started at Piduguralla, where he camped for the night, the police provided tight security following information that some students were holding protests for Samaikyandhra at Kondamodu village on the road. However, the students only raised slogans for Samaikyandhra and did not disturb Chandrababu Naidu’s yatra. He told the students that the Congress had conspired with the TRS and the YSR Congress to spoil the education system and blight employment opportunities for them in Hyderabad.
He had a dig at Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for being silent on every issue, including division of the State. He blamed the Prime Minister for the missing files and said “how can the Prime Minister save this country when he can’t save the files (relating to coalgate scam).”
Addressing a gathering at Nakirekal in the evening, he blamed the Congress MPs from Seemandhra for their silence on the Samaikya ndhra agitation. He faulted Congress MPs for criticizing their TD counterparts who have been holding protests in Parliament. He said that the Congress leaders, instead of supporting the TD MPs, were threatening them for the protests, which showed the nexus.
Naidu demanded capital punishment for economic offenders who loot the State’s treasury. Alluding to YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy, the TD leader said that the ‘economic offender’ had been kept in jail for more than a year, though it was not enough. He alleged conspiracy behind the decision of the Congress to divide the Telugu people and said it was intended to isolate the Telugu Desam in the State.
