Peddibotlavari Street, which lies between Vijaya Diary and Eluru Road, has a stinking open drain on one of the crossings, which has fallen prey to open defecation by the public. This is one of the busiest junctions between two sides of Vijayawada and surely each and every citizen of every designation, private and public, would have passed through the street and might have observed people urinating here.

Unfortunately this misdeed has been continuing for over decades. At a time when we are talking about cleanliness, greenery and swachhta, people from all walks of life including the educated, poor, rich, middleclass, aged and senior citizens defecate in the open throwing all manners literally in the dump.

What’s fuming is that, taking cue from the offenders, some of the senseless people have pursued this disgusting activity on the other side of the road also. It is high time that we don’t play a blame game on the administration and duly remind ourselves where we stand and check our conscience and react accordingly.
