Narsapur: An interaction programme with remand prisoners in the sub-jail here was held on Friday to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Prof. D Venkateswara Rao, director of Gandhian Studies Centre at Sri YN College, who attended the programme as a guest, garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the premises.

Speaking on the occasion, he underlined the need to promote Gandhian ideals of truth and non-violence for universal peace. Later, initiating the talk with the remand prisoners, Prof. Rao exhorted them to reform themselves by following the Gandhian philosophy during their sentence to lead a normal and dignified life after their release from prison. Rao distributed booklets on the subject to the prisoners on the occasion. Jail Superintendent Sanyasi Rao and others were present.
