All of us have so many questions about God as a concept. While some question the existence, some doubt the credibility! And that’s what filmmaker Jaya Shankarr did in his recent movie ‘The God Must Be Crazy’ which garnered more than one lakh views within a week of being uploaded on YouTube.

After his earlier short film ‘Half Girlfriend’ was well received by netizens (it has a whopping 7.8 lakh views – a high number considering many short films that are made in large numbers every day fail to even reach the 10,000 mark), he shares that he wanted to do something different.

“God is a very obscure concept for many. Each one of us has so many doubts. Even people who want to believe in the existence, are chased by multiple questions in their mind. In fact even I had a few doubts and this was my own way of giving a reasoning to the same,” he shares.

Interestingly, the film which runs for around 18 minutes was shot in four hours! “Mind you that even included a break we took. The script and actors were ready. And the film doesn’t involve change in locations and takes place as a conversation between two people. That made it possible,” he says.

As for the title, Shankarr said he chose it because it sounded very catchy. “I had other titles in mind. But nothing felt better than this.” Back to the film’s concept, he elaborates, “I have cleared a few doubts about god in a simple question, answer format that many will like and relate to.

You can see a guy going for an interview which turns out to be a lot more than just that. God will be seen in a new light after people watch my film.” “God is not a person. He is a process. He is there everywhere. Go and find him.” Well, that line from the film pretty much summarises what the film is about.
