To promote research, training and consulting in various fields of engineering and sciences, Guru Nanak Institutions- technical campus is all set to launch 11-innovation centres. This was announced in the city on Saturday. The main objective of establishing the state-of-the-art centres is to provide exposure and participation to faculty and students to the research activities through centres of excellence enabling them to teach and learn from a higher platform, involvement in R & D and cutting-edge technologies, explained GS Kohli, Vice-Chairman of Guru Nanak Institutions.

Making a comparison, Kohli lamented that Indian colleges lacked R&D, while it was most prevalent in every engineering western institution. The 11 innovation centres would focus on specialized applications like non-destructive evaluation, solar engineering, robotics and industrial applications and software development.
