Cycle Club to hold Pushkara Yatra

The Vijayawada Cycle Club will organise a Pushkara Yatra from PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science from the city to Rajahmundry on Wednesday to promote environmental awareness among people. Club founder general secretary V Satyanarayana on Sunday said the three-day Yatra was planned to promote cycling among the denizens. It would also educate pilgrims on the need to protect the perennial rivers from water pollution to sustain agricultural growth.

In the wake of heavy traffic jams on highways due to the pilgrim rush, the State Government should encourage people living in nearby villages and towns of Godavari river to use cycle as a chief mode of transport, he said.
