Sumadhura Kalaniketan playlet contest from tomorrow. A women’s cultural troupe from Telugu Parishad of New Delhi also sent its entry for the competition. The cultural organisation selected eight playlets from the received entries.
Sumadhura Kalaniketan will organise the 20th State-level comedy playlet competition at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in the city from July 24 to 26 to mark its 42nd anniversary. Kalaniketan president Samanthapudi Narasaraju on Wednesday said 35 entries were received from several cultural organisations of Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Bhimavaram, Guntur, Bapatla, Chilakaluripet, Repalle, Nellore, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Hyderabad and other places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for the three-day playlet contest.
A women’s cultural troupe from Telugu Parishad of New Delhi also sent its entry for the competition. The cultural organisation selected eight playlets from the received entries.The playlets to be staged during the competition include ‘Khel Khatam Dukanam Bandh’, ‘Thaguna Idi Bhama’, ‘Seethapati’, ‘Arangetram’, ‘Em Cheppanu Ela Cheppanu’, ‘My Name is Seethalu’, `Ganthaku Thagga Bontha’ and ‘Ma Intiki Randi’.
Comedy skits will be staged and a jokes competition will also be held during the event. The Jandhyala Memorial Award will be presented to comedian Ali. Comic writer Kavana Sarma of Bangalore, veteran stage artistes Karnati Lakshmi Narasaiah and T Lakshmi will be felicitated on the occasion, Narasaraju said. Kalaniketan vice-president VVN Prasad and secretary PV Bhaskara Sarma were also present.
