However, thanks to the efforts being put in by certain passionate individuals, it is gradually gaining in popularity in India, including Telangana State.

When Rugby Association of Telangana mooted the idea of conducing a camp in the city, perhaps even the most optimistic among the office-bearers may not have bargained for the sort of response that was shown on the first day of the camp. It speaks highly of the sport that as many as 60 youngsters turned up.

Action began soon after it was formally inaugurated y School Games Fedration Telangana Secretary K Ram Reddy in the presence of T Krishna Reddy, PRTU TS General Secretary.

In a way it is a good beginning that the coaches gave equal importance to the theoretical aspects, rules and regulations and the basics.

According to Narsi Reddy and Marpally Kumar, the Association is to embark on similar introductory camps in all district headquarters. The coaching was conducted by Sujeet, Vikas and Rajeev.
