It is a platform to understand and share ideas. Artists participating in this collaborative practice include painters, sculptors and printmakers - artists Ramakrishna, Srinivasa Rao, Kiran Kumar, Anila Kumar G, Prabhakar Sahoo, Srinivas Bobbili, Veera Reddy, Laxmikiran and Gayathri among others.

Kumar, who hails from Karnataka speaks about his work, “I was passionate about painting. My work is about the basic issues of society and freedom of speech. As a painter and sculpture I want to enjoy the art. I can call myself a mixed media artist.”

“My painting is about people and their trust on one another. I also draw pop paintings, small sculpture and deha (physical body and soul). I am awfully influenced by the local area workers; one can see people traveling and the people sitting in the auto in my work. I have done a home on the bridge and I called it ‘I and my mother’s house’. I basically do imaginary paintings,” he adds.

Veera Reddy says, “When I was studying mythology I started studying philosophy also. I don’t believe in art, I believe in cosmic energy and expression. When I share my opinion with other artists, they argue with me and say - as an artist how can you think like that?

For example our body works with several organs like eyes, nose, ears, hand, legs, mind and heart but for me it is a cosmic energy which is working inside us. I am a printmaker and work in viscosity, lithography and printing which I try to merge with sculpture, visual expression and 2D image.”

Another artist Kiran Kumar relates, “I did my masters in printmaking. Here, I am practicing different medium which I never did before. I used to work with mixed medium, but I am working on a sculpture. I liked this activity here as it is more open and different artists are presenting diverse mediums.”

“I created Goddess Laxmi and also giving it a description - ‘if you send this image to 100 people you will get Laxmi Devi back in three minutes’ as an indication to several people, who believe in fraudulent messages and forward it continuously to others.

I did my diploma in traditional culture and I wish to bring back our culture through my painting. I think our Indian mythology has many concepts and themes. Here, we give importance to sculpture and in other countries they give importance to ornaments. So I want to bring this up through my painting,” shares artist Srinivasa Rao. The artists will be showcasing their works till November 15.
