In this regard, upto Rs 341 crore will mainly focus on replacing sewer lines from Ameerpet to GHMC head office and from Kukatpally Nala to Hussain Sagar.

The rest will be used to restore all damaged manholes, supply lines and miscellaneous activities.

According to Water Board officials the sewer and water supply lines, which were laid decades ago, are damaged severely due to the recent rainfall from July to September.

The officials quoted that the sewer trunk damaged near NTR Garden exhibits the magnanimity of damaged lines.

The official said that even though the sewer line has been restored there has been an emergency to replace all damaged water supply and sewer lines across the city.

A senior HMWS&SB official told The Hans India that the Water Board would lay duplicate 'A' and 'K&S' mains.

He said that only a minor portion of 5.5km trunk sewer was laid between Divya Shakthi Apartment, Ameerpet and GHMC head office has been restored.

The official also said that the Water Board would replace all damaged portions of 612km length (600 mm diameter) or above sewer network and about 1.90 lakh manholes.

He said that the proposal has been sent to the Centre and are that they awaiting its approval.

He assured that the Water Board would minimise the inconvenience by next rainy season.
