The police have taken three CPI (Maoist) Party action team members and a newly recruited member into custody along with a short-weapon, ammunition and gelatine sticks along with the party literature.  

Hanamkonda: The police have taken three CPI (Maoist) Party action team members and a newly recruited member into custody along with a short-weapon, ammunition and gelatine sticks along with the party literature.

Hanamkonda ACP K Muralidhar produced the arrested members before the media at KU Campus (KUC) police station in Hanamkonda on Tuesday. He informed that the arrested persons were involved in recruiting new cadre at the directions of Maoist party state secretary Yapa Naranyana alias Haribhushan and its KKW secretary Damodar.

The arrested were identified as T Devender alias Rama Rao of Sudhanapalli in Hasanparthy mandal, Bhukya Srinivas alias P Srinu of Ponugodu of Gudur mandal and Ch Narayana Swamy of Sriramulapalli of Kamalapur mandal. They were the members of Telangana Youth Federation.

The newly recruited member has been identified as Lingala Vennela alias Dhannu of Paidipalli in Hasanparthy mandal. The police have also recovered photographs of the action team members carrying weapons in the forests and they were said to be tasked to carry out action on the targets given by the party.

Based on a tip off and directions from higher officials, the KUC police Sub-Inspector Nagababu and team have arrested the action team members, when they were going to meet Damodar to hand over the new recruit Vennela.

The action team members were involved in various crimes in the past, the ACP informed. A case under sections 10, 13, 18(B) of UAP Act 1967, section 25 (1-B) (9) of Arms Act 1959, section 5 of ES Act 1908, section 8 of TSPS (APPS) Act was booked against them at KCU police station, he added.
