In an encouraging move for loss-making state Road Transport Corporation, the Nalgonda region of the corporation has managed to cut the losses by a whopping 50 per cent and stood top in the state in terms of raking revenues and maintaining fuel consumption.
Nalgonda: In an encouraging move for loss-making state Road Transport Corporation, the Nalgonda region of the corporation has managed to cut the losses by a whopping 50 per cent and stood top in the state in terms of raking revenues and maintaining fuel consumption.
After Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s meeting with regional managers and depot managers of the Corporation last year, RTC officials of Nalgonda decided to reduce the loss to the maximum possible extent.

In this connection, the corporation cracked a whip on private transporters with the help of police and RTA officials apart from organising sensitisation meetings to the staff, on every Tuesday, to cut short the possible overheads and raise the occupancy ratio.
The Nalgonda RTC region consists of Nalgonda, Narketpally, Miryalaguda and Devarakonda depots in Nalgonda district, Suryapet and Kodad depots in Suryapet district and only Yadagirigutta depot in Yadadri-Bhongir district. For the convenience of administration, the corporation officials carved out Suryapet division bringing Suryapet and Yadadri depots under it leaving the Nalgonda with previous four depots.
Nearly, 730 buses render services on a daily basis in Nalgonda region. According to official sources in 2015-16, Nalgonda region incurred a loss of Rs 38 crore. However with the implementation of three-tier techniques, the officials succeeded in reducing the loss to Rs 19 crore in 2016-17, till February 28, which is 50 per cent of the previous year’s loss.
Speaking to The Hans India, elated RTC Nalgonda Regional Manager M Vijaya Kumar informed that with joint efforts of officials and staff, loss was reduced by half. He added that plans were afoot to reduce the loss from Rs 19 crore to Rs 10 crore in 2017-18.
He further informed that to encourage the hardworking staff and to motivate others, five efficient drivers, who run buses with recommended fuel consumption, and three efficient conductors with good revenue collection have been felicitating with cash awards at the end of every month on the respective depot premises.
Also an appreciation banner with photos of best drivers and conductors has been placed at the entrance of respective depots to motivate others, the Regional Manager said.
Further counseling sessions to the drivers who cross recommended fuel consumption limits and conductors with poor collection in their allotted routes were also being conducted.
Meanwhile increasing its fleet of buses, the region is all set to get three AC Rajadani buses, 30 Super Luxury, 12 Deluxe, 19 ordinary and 25-seated 16 mini buses in the first week of April.
As part of Yadadri temple development, the temple board had allocated 15 acres of land to TSRTC near temple Goshala down the hill to construct a new depot with all necessary infrastructures, the Regional Manager informed.
