​Khammam: The district administration is all set to vaccinate a whopping 1.47 lakh children as part of pulse Polio immunisation programme to be held on April 2.

District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar, who held a special review meeting at the Collectorate in Khammam on Friday, directed the officials concerned to make all necessary arrangements for immunisation programme where children below five years of age would be vaccinated.

Speaking at the review meeting, the Collector ordered the officials to establish camps at Panchayat buildings in villages and at booth-level across the district apart from advertising extensively to bring about awareness among people.

He also suggested the officials to visit each and every house apart from establishing temporary centres at railway stations, bus stations and in schools on April 3 and 4, for administering Polio drops to the children who missed out to get vaccinated on April 2.

Utilise services of NSS and NCC volunteers and also Anganwadi teachers for making the Polio immunisation programme a grand success, the Collector suggested. Rural Development Officer Purna Chander Rao, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Kondal Rao, DRDA Project Director Muralidhar Rao, District Malaria Officer Dr Ram Babu, Deputy DM & HO Dr Malathi, Government Hospital Superintendent Dr Madan Singh, RTC Medical Officer Narasimha Rao and NRHM Kalavathi Bhai and others attended the review meeting.
