Gundrampally: BJP national president Amit Shah stated that Gundrampalli village boasts of rich history with as many as 160 villagers were massacred by Nizam’s army (Razakars) during the Telangana Armed Struggle.
On third day of his tour in Nalgonda district, Shah visited Gundrampalli village of Chityal mandal. After attending the photo exhibition where pictures of Telanangana Armed Struggle were displayed, the saffron party chief paid tributes to the Martyrs and interacted and felicitated their family members.
Addressing a public meeting later, Shah said villagers of Gundrampally taught a befitted lesson to Nizam’s army who misbehaved with the women of the region.
History and sacrifice of this village was forgotten and it was the time to bring it into lime light, he said, adding that people of the region have to analyse themselves and crosscheck whether the present TRS government was working towards the realization of dreams of Martrys of Telangana armed struggle and separate state agitation.
He further urged people to bring the BJP in power in the State in next elections to see the growth that they have dreamt. As part of his tour to Gundrampally, he interacted with six families and enquired about the problems in the village. He also received feedback on the status of implementation of Central schemes in the village.
Addressing the gathering, party state president Laxman raised objections to the comments made by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Shah’s visit to Gundrampalli. Stating that then Congress government was in support of Nizam, the BJP leader demanded an apology from Uttam.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya stated that taking Telangana Armed Struggle as source of inspiration, the workers of the party must take Central government schemes to the doorsteps of downtrodden and bring the party to power in the state in 2019 polls.
Dattatreya, meanwhile, assured that he would talk to the Tourism Minister to promote Rachakonda as a tourist place. Party national general secretary Muralidhar Rao, district president Nukala Narsimha Reddy, Chintha Smabamurthi, Baki Papaiah and others participated.
